A sweet letter from a long time boarder at our facility that we’d like to share with you…
March 5th, 2017
I started boarding at Dragonwood when my horse was a green 3 year old. Now, four years later, I am moving out of state, and am leaving with an excellent, well trained horse and a ton more horsemanship skills than I had when I arrived. When I started looking at barns four years ago, I was only thinking about finding a good place to board my horse, but a good barn is a lot more than that. While I was at Dragonwood I took advantage of the many things they have to offer for boarders including training sessions and clinic workshops with the Horse2Human trainer on site, Shannon King. I feel very lucky that I picked Dragonwood because I had the opportunity to work with Shannon. Although I grew up with horses and was in horse clubs as a child and teenager, being able to work with Shannon, and ride with her, gave me practical skills I probably would not have gotten anywhere else.
Although my husband and daughter aren’t horse people, they also took riding lessons with Barb King, which gave them enough basic skills so they can enjoy riding with me. They both enjoyed taking lessons, and found Barb to be a very kind, knowledgeable and talented riding instructor. I liked that she started the lessons with catching and tacking the horse, which gave them a more complete experience than a lot of beginning riding classes do.
It’s a nice family business that has a more personal touch than any of the other barns I’ve looked at. Someone is always on site, and the staff there was helpful to me in a dozen different ways. My horse received excellent care, and I didn’t worry about her when I couldn’t be there for periods of time. The other people who board there are friendly and fun, and another nice thing is annual summer and winter social parties. Obviously, Dragonwood is in a beautiful location and offers quick access to the Washington Horse Park and other wonderful places to ride. However, the trails on the Dragonwood property are incredibly beautiful, and the arena is perfect in winter weather. If you are looking for a boarding barn or a place to take lessons, I highly recommend Dragonwood.
Thank you Mary, we already miss you like crazy! <3
